MS NOW’s Jen Psaki said President Donald Trump has canceled two rallies planned for this weekend in competitive states just days before the midterms, and she questioned how effective the events are if he’s calling them off.
Psaki reported that rallies in Kansas and Iowa were both canceled as of Thursday night, and that Trump is reportedly talking up the size of his crowds while noting that Vice President J.D. Vance hasn’t drawn big numbers.
She said Trump is “in serious denial about his crowd sizes getting smaller.”
She also played a clip of a man at a South Carolina rally whom Fox News interviewed. Asked why he came, the man referred to the Jonestown massacre, saying that “this is as close as I’ll ever get” and “there’s nothing like seeing a cult right up front.”
“I mean, what a line,” Psaki said, adding that “the MAGA cult is getting smaller and smaller.” She said the shrinking crowds extend beyond Trump, citing a Texas event for Senate nominee Ken Paxton in San Angelo that she said drew “at least a dozen people” by her count.
She also played a clip from Paxton’s Odessa event in which he said he’d recovered nearly $3 billion and thanked the audience for one clap. “That’s what he said at the end, folks,” Psaki said. “The bar is apparently that low.”
This comes hours after Trump blew up at a Reuters reporter asking him why he was canceling some of his rallies and asking if it related to his health, saying, “I feel perfect! You are disgusting! Put yourself in shape! You look like hell!”
