President Joe Biden denied a Wall Street Journal report that his administration was considering large payouts to immigrant families whose children were separated by the Trump administration.

"The Biden administration is in talks to offer immigrant families that were separated during the Trump administration around $450,000 a person in compensation, according to people familiar with the matter, as several agencies work to resolve lawsuits filed on behalf of parents and children who say the government subjected them to lasting psychological trauma," the newspaper reported on Thursday.

Fox News personality Peter Doocy asked Biden about the report during a Wednesday press conference.

"Do you think that that might incentivize more people to come over illegally?" Doocy asked.

"If you guys keep sending that garbage out, yeah. But it's not true," Biden replied.

"So this is a garbage report?" Doocy asked.

"Yeah," Biden replied. "That's not going to happen."

MSNBC anchor Nicolle Wallace said she hadn't noticed Biden provide a fact check like that before.

"Maybe he should do this every day, take questions from Fox News and knock down the disinfo at the source," she said.
