Veteran polling analyst warns GOP of no-win scenario: 'They've done quite badly'

Veteran polling analyst warns GOP of no-win scenario: 'They've done quite badly'

GOP infighting may pave the way to an inevitable Democratic Party victory at the 2028 elections, a veteran pollster has claimed.

Nate Silver suggested that the party merely needs a reasonable candidate, and they may have their share of choices. In his Substack column, Silver noted Gavin Newsom, who had not yet lost an election, and former Vice President Kamala Harris could be safe options for the Democratic Party at the next presidential election.

This choice is contingent, he says, on the in-fighting which is bound to come from the Republican Party finding a suitable replacement for Donald Trump. The president will leave office in 2029, but finding a potential successor has proven tricky. JD Vance, Marco Rubio, and Ted Cruz could all mount their own bids for the GOP leadership. ...

'That was crazy': New York Times report divides MAGA — and leads to CNN fact check

A recent New York Times article about dark money in American politics led one outgoing mayor to lob allegations against a former presidential candidate, leading to division among MAGA and a fact check.

The NYT recently published an article called "Nearly $900 Million Flowed in Secret to Help Harris and Trump in 2024." One of the authors of the piece, Teddy Schleifer, took to social media, writing, "One donor gave $97.5 million to a nonprofit that gave $250 million to Kamala Harris's super PAC."

"You'll never know who the donor is. Hello to our campaign-finance system!" he wrote, attaching the article stating that the donor was anonymous and that millions were sent in by "Future Forward USA Action, the so-called dark-money group of the main super PAC backing" Joe Biden and Harris....

'He can insult me all he wants': ABC's Jonathan Karl spills on covering the Trump Show

Jonathan Karl, chief Washington correspondent and co-anchor of This Week for ABC News, is also the author of four books on Donald Trump and his seismic impact on American politics.

First, Front Row at the Trump Show covered the first Trump presidency from a viewpoint built on Karl’s experience of reporting on Trump before he entered politics, in his years as a New York businessman and gossip column staple.

Next, Betrayal and Tired of Winning dealt with Trump’s defeat in 2020, his incitement of the January 6 insurrection, and criminal and civil court cases which seemed set to knock him out of public life, even send him to prison....

This abominable choice exposed the single saddest thing in my lifetime

Well, Kamala Harris’s memoir is out, and while I am generally not a fan of political books, I believe this moment deserves some attention given the weighty timeframe and consequences of one of the most significant events of American history.

When this very good woman lost to the most abominable man in America last November, it opened the door to hell and exposed a fractured country that used to fight against fascists, not elect them.

We’ll know soon enough whether this is just an end of a chapter of the American story, or the definitive conclusion of that book. Today, our military is in our streets on behalf of a king, and human beings are being locked away in alligator-infested swamps....

We were warned Trump would sell out key allies. A year later, here we go

Exactly one year ago last night, Vice President Kamala Harris confidently walked up to Donald Trump, looked him in his bloodshot eyes, offered her hand, and then proceeded to spend the next 90 minutes dragging him all over the stage of Philadelphia’s National Constitution Center in their one-and-only 2024 presidential debate.

Harris was prepared, disciplined, and clearly demonstrated her keen understanding of both domestic and foreign policy issues. She wasted no time stating her key plans for her administration, and effortlessly illustrated a command of the Constitution. She made it clear that she, not her opponent, who was a convicted felon, had spent an entire professional career upholding our nation’s laws, not violating them.

She even predicted how the debate would go down telling the world that Trump would haul out “the same old, tired playbook,” and warning he would resort to “a bunch of lies, grievances and name-calling.”...

Debate disaster as Trump Senate pick freezes on hot-button issue: ‘I am … eh …’

A Republican Senate candidate endorsed by President Donald Trump froze, then laughed, when a debate moderator asked her to define the “reasonable access” to abortion she says she supports.

Republican nominee Michele Tafoya faced Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan (D-MN) on Friday in a debate for Minnesota’s open U.S. Senate seat.

It was the race’s only scheduled debate, according to MPR News, whose politics editor, Brian Bakst, moderated the hourlong broadcast....

Crowd stunned silent as Trump speeds through his affordability routine at Alaska rally

President Donald Trump is apparently getting tired of his own affordability routine that he is performing at his midterm rallies, leaving the crowd in Alaska silent on Tuesday night.

In the routine, Trump claims he was barraged with the word "affordability" on his first day in office, and tries to paint it as an issue made up by the "fake news media" in the back of the room.

"They screamed 'Affordability! What about affordability?'" Trump said of the media. "I said, 'I have only been here one day ...'" ...

MS NOW dumbfounded by new press secretary's disastrous debut: 'Glad we cut away'

The debut of new White House press secretary Katie Zacharia was cut off early by MS NOW, with the panel dumbfounded at her staring at her notes and fumbled her way through with fragmented sentences.

After the cutaway, MS NOW host Stephanie Ruhle smirked and stated, “Let's look at the way that just started...” which was greeted with laughter.

Ex-Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (D-NY) offered, “I mean, you know, I feel like common decency should give her more of a chance, but my god. Right? So you violate the Hatch Act right out of the gate. You're clearly singing from the playbook here, which is to just make it all about you and Donald Trump.”...
