'Why would he appoint him?' Dem strategist reveals problem with Trump's attack on Tim Walz

Donald Trump's attempts to label Vice President Kamala Harris as an extremist met a roadblock Wednesday when a Democratic strategist revealed Gov. Tim Walz was once a Trump appointee.

Walz (D-MN) was among 10 governors appointed in 2019 to serve on the Trump administration's bipartisan Council of Governors, as a press release from that year shows.

J.D. Vance gets pushback as he calls Harris 'chameleon': 'How can you fake your race?'

Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) attempted Wednesday to explain former President Donald Trump's questioning of Vice President Kamala Harris' racial identity — but was hit with pushback from a journalist who wanted to know, "How can you fake your race?"

Vance faced this question during a press conference in Michigan as he made the case that Trump's much-criticized attacks on Harris' racial identity reflected broader concerns about her shifting politics.

Analyst singles out 'stuff of GOP nightmares' moment at boisterous Harris/Walz rally

Appearing on NBC's "Morning Joe" to explain why he labeled Vice President Kamala Harris' decision to select Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) as her running mate as "comfort food" for the masses, Politico's Jonathan Martin noted a moment during the rowdy Philadelphia rally that should be keeping GOP campaign strategists up nights.

Speaking with co-hosts Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough, Martin noted, "I wrote this morning, Joe, in my column, I thought the most captivating part of the evening is the clip that you guys just played and she [Harris] ad-libbed briefly off the teleprompter three times: 'Only in America. Only in America,' and the crowd started chanting 'USA' as if they were in Paris for the Olympics. That is the stuff of GOP nightmares right there."

'Losing his freaking mind': Conservative stunned by Trump having 'breakdown in real time'

During an appearance on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" on Wednesday morning to address the selection of Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) as the Democratic party's 2024 vice presidential nominee, conservative Charlie Sykes expressed fear that Donald Trump's latest rant on Truth Social was a cry for help.

In a post on X, he pointed to the former president claiming, "What are the chances that Crooked Joe Biden, the WORST President in the history of the U.S., whose Presidency was Unconstitutionally STOLEN from him by Kamabla, Barrack HUSSEIN Obama, Crazy Nancy Pelosi, Shifty Adam Schiff, Cryin’ Chuck Schumer, and others on the Lunatic Left, CRASHES the Democrat National Convention and tries to take back the Nomination, beginning with challenging me to another DEBATE. He feels that he made a historically tragic mistake by handing over the U.S. Presidency, a COUP, to the people in the World he most hates, and he wants it back, NOW!!!"

That led Sykes to write on Tuesday, "Can we just say it? the guy is fuqqing nuts."

Appearing on "Morning Joe" on Wednesday morning he elaborated, "I'm so glad you brought up this post by Donald Trump, this gibbering nonsense."

'So unstable': Morning Joe hosts stunned by 'deranged' Trump's latest conspiracy rant

On the morning after Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) hit the ground running in a rowdy and loud rally in Philadelphia, the co-hosts of "Morning Joe" noted that Donald Trump was becoming even more unhinged based upon his wild ranting on Truth Social.

Specifically they were stunned by a Trump rant suggesting Joe Biden would show up at the Democratic National Convention later in August and attempt to wrest control from Harris and become the 2024 presidential nominee.

According to Trump, "What are the chances that Crooked Joe Biden, the WORST President in the history of the U.S., whose Presidency was Unconstitutionally STOLEN from him by Kamabla, Barrack HUSSEIN Obama, Crazy Nancy Pelosi, Shifty Adam Schiff, Cryin’ Chuck Schumer, and others on the Lunatic Left, CRASHES the Democrat National Convention and tries to take back the Nomination, beginning with challenging me to another DEBATE. He feels that he made a historically tragic mistake by handing over the U.S. Presidency, a COUP, to the people in the World he most hates, and he wants it back, NOW!!!"

MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski noted, "Generally we don't bother to read former president Donald Trump's deranged posts on social media. but this one is so unstable and so unhinged, it's important that Americans maybe know just somehow unbalanced the Republican nominee is. So here it goes."

After his co-host read the social media post on air, Joe Scarborough chipped in, "What a split screen if you are a suburban voter outside of Milwaukee, outside of Detroit, outside of Philly, outside of Atlanta. If you're in the northern suburbs of Atlanta and you didn't vote for Trump in 2020, but you think you might in 2024, there is your split screen. "

"Look at him [Tim Walz] smiling on stage, look at the screaming crowds — it looks like winners," he continued. "I will say as a Republican ... I was a former Republican, I'm not used to Democrats looking like winners. They are usually in a crouched position and they are usually scared of their own shadow, with the exception being Barack Obama. Visuals yesterday were striking and compare that with Donald Trump's lonely rants on truth social, that is a striking contrast."

'Trump supporters may not want to hear this': Alarm sounded after wild Harris/Walz rally

A longtime conservative commentator and Donald Trump ally took to X, formerly known as Twitter, on Tuesday night and warned supporters of the former president that the 2024 presidential election is entering uncharted territory that could prove treacherous as November approaches.

As noted — and read on-air — by MSNBC's Joe Scarborough on Wednesday morning following a raucous rally Tuesday night featuring Vice President Kamala Harris and her vice presidential running mate Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN), David Brody, long a Trump supporter, claimed that he had bad news for the MAGA base.

Brody, a commentator on the Christian Broadcast Network, began, "Trump Supporters may not want to hear this but Kamala Harris and Tim Walz were VERY good tonight in Philadelphia. She came across as measured, confident and fully in control. It was an optimistic speech full of hope and change (cue 2008). Meanwhile, Walz showed off his folksy and feisty midwestern persona."

He then added, "It looked natural. It felt organic. The crowd was large and energetic. We’ll see if it holds but this race feels different and polling suggests it IS different. The Trump Campaign has lots of work to do ahead and to be sure, they will work hard to define Kamala and Walz as way too liberal for America. BUT remember this: while policy is important, voters are typically moved to vote by emotion and connection to a candidate, cause and campaign."

To back up his assertion, he wrote, "The Political Brain is a GREAT book by Drew Westen, professor of psychology and psychiatry at Emory University. His research concludes the following: 'In politics, when reason and emotion collide, emotion invariably wins.' Let the race FINALLY begin."
