MSNBC's Joe Scarborough ridiculed newly elected Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) for offering a laughable excuse for his ignorance of fellow freshman Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA).
The Alabama Republican claimed that bad weather had prevented him from reading the news, where he might have learned that Greene was under fire from Democrats and some Republicans for her support for bizarre conspiracy theories and violence against her political opponents.
"Thank God he never coached at Alabama," Scarborough said of Tuberville, who coached football at Auburn and elsewhere. "Thank God."
Scarborough and other "Morning Joe" panelists laughed at Tuberville's excuse for not knowing about the "Qanon lady," as they dubbed Greene.
"This is not 1972," said co-host Mika Brzezinski. "There are cell phones, everybody gets the news all the time, sir."
The panelists returned to Tuberville a few minutes later.
"The paper boy is pushing through that snowstorm, [saying,] 'Extra, extra -- come get your news from Jan. 8," Scarborough said. "Where does Tommy live? Like, in Alabama we made fun of people on the planes, but good lord. What, is there a time warp of 50, 60 years?"
