Pro-infrastructure Republicans are facing a barrage of abuse from furious Trump supporters: report

On Wednesday, The New York Times reported that the 13 House Republicans who bucked party leadership to approve the bipartisan infrastructure bill are receiving a torrent of abuse and hate from GOP voters.

"One caller instructed Representative Adam Kinzinger of Illinois to slit his wrists and 'rot in hell.' Another hoped Representative Don Bacon of Nebraska would slip and fall down a staircase. The office of Representative Nicole Malliotakis of New York has been inundated with angry messages tagging her as a 'traitor,'" reported Catie Edmondson.

Connecticut Democratic Congressman Jim Himes appeared on MSNBC on Wednesday to discuss reports of violent threats against his 13 Republican colleagues in the House who voted in favor of the $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill last week.

"It's a really sad state of affairs," Himes said, noting that 15 years ago, nothing would have been less controversial than an infrastructure bill to address roads and bridges.

According to a report from Punchbowl News, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is almost reaching the point where she is working for her constituents for free as her congressional paycheck continues to be dunned for not wearing a mask on the House floor.

With lawmakers fined $500 for the first offense, then $2500 for each one thereafter, Punchbowl is reporting that the controversial Republican "has given up nearly a third of her congressional salary" as she "keeps getting hit with automatic fines" that have diminished her $174,000 government salary.

An apparent participant in the Jan. 6 Capitol assault reported contacts between state-level Republican officials and associates of former President Donald Trump to the House committee investigating the January insurrection, according to Politico.

The rioter, who was not named due to fears of retaliation, was reportedly interviewed twice by the committee over the past week or so and "described knowledge of contacts between GOP officials in a key state Trump lost" and Trump's allies, according to the outlet.
