A sheriff's deputy in Hamilton County, Ohio is under investigation for posting the flag of the Three Percenters militia on his Facebook page.
Local news station WCPO reports that Hamilton County Deputy Michael Stemmerding posted the Three Percenters flag as his official Facebook cover photo and kept it there for six weeks before taking it down after being scrutinized by local media.
"The WCPO 9 I-Team discovered Stemmerding's militia flag photo on Jan. 15," the news station reports. "We saved a dated screenshot of it and other posts on Stemmerding's publicly accessible Facebook page."
The Three Percenters are a far-right militia currently under investigation by the FBI for their alleged role in planning the January 6th riots at the United States Capitol building.
Hamilton County Sheriff Charmaine McGuffey tells WCPO that Stemmerding is now under investigation and she says that the prospect of one of her deputies supporting a violent militia is "very serious."
The deputy in question first came under scrutiny in 2015 when he posted a bigoted anti-Muslim message on Instagram, which resulted in him getting suspended for an undisclosed period of time.
"Allah SUCKS Mohammed SUCKS Islam SUCKS," he wrote. "Any of you Haji's have an issue with me saying this, PM me and I'll gladly give You my address. You can come visit me, where I promise I will KILL YOU In my front yard!!"
