As polling paints an increasingly dire picture for Republicans’ midterm prospects, Fox Business host Cheryl Casone warned Tuesday that President Donald Trump’s agenda was under threat of being “effectively stopped” for the remainder of his term should Democrats retake control of Congress this November.
“There's this recent CNN poll that shows that Democrats are leading Republicans by 8 points on the general ballot, and the Wall Street Journal's pointing out a big issue for Republicans right now is the economy,” Casone said, hosting “Mornings with Maria” on Fox Business. “There was a recent Fox News poll that found that voters think that Democrats are better on the economy!”
Casone’s guest, Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC), acknowledged the economic pain millions of Americans have endured over the past several years, but argued soaring gas and food prices were temporary before quickly pivoting to attacking the Democratic Party as a “Marxist group,” and warning that a Democratic midterm victory could spell the end for the Trump administration.
“The president has got the right tax policies in place with the Big Beautiful Bill. Once the straits of Hormuz are opened and Iran is finally finished off – which he will do – prices will come down,” Norman said.
“What the young people and the voters have to realize: socialism has never worked, and to advocate for that... there's no moderates anymore! The Democrat Party is not the party of the 60s, 70s and 80s; they're a Marxist group, a socialist group, [and] we've got to stop them!”
Norman continued: “If they win the midterms – and President Trump knows this – it's impeachment, impeachment, impeachment, and what a sad day for the country if this happens.”
Casone concurred with Norman, telling the South Carolina Republican that should Democrats retake Congress, “the president's agenda will be effectively stopped for the rest of his term.”
