Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) responded Wednesday to a note from Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis that told Congress to butt out of her criminal investigation into Donald Trump.

Willis, who maintains that no federal dollars were used for the Trump investigation, says that the House Judiciary Committee doesn't have any jurisdiction over the DA's office after Jordan demanded a collection of details and evidence that tied the office to the federal government.

Rep. Jim Himes (D-CT) expects that the government shutdown is likely to begin this weekend.

Speaking to MSNBC's Chris Jansing, Himes explained, "Nothing that is happening in the House is the steps that [previous speaker] ... Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) outlined. Which is to pass a bipartisan continuing resolution."

As Raw Story explained weeks ago, Donald Trump's lawyers gave up their right to a jury trial in the fraud case in New York.

Michigan University Law professor and former prosecutor Barbara McQuade is asking why the federal case was dropped against Donald Trump for inflating his wealth.

"Now that [the] judge has found Trump engaged in [a] massive asset inflation scheme to obtain loans and insurance, I am even more puzzled as to why [the] U.S. Attorney’s Office in SDNY walked away from it. Bank fraud is a federal criminal offense," she wrote on the social media site previously known as Twitter.

House Whip Rep. Katherine Clark (D-MA) penned an op-ed for MSNBC on Wednesday accused MAGA Republicans of "hijacking" the government and offering a ransom note that will ultimately kill the hostages.

"Nearly 10 months into their majority, House Republicans haven’t used their power to create jobs, lower costs or build safer communities," she wrote. "They have used it to play increasingly unhinged political games — first manufacturing a dangerous debt ceiling crisis and now careening toward a needless, painful government shutdown."

Responding to the judge saying Trump jacked up the price of properties, his son Eric Trump complained that Mar-a-Lago is worth over $1 billion. The judge valued it at more like $18 million.
