Potty-mouthed Bachmann launches another 'Obama's anti-American' attack

She's a deranged cus, isn't she? I don't know who earns more Pinocchios, but Michele Bachmann or Robin Hayes. I experience maximum schadenfreude with Bachmann, since the homophobic Congresswoman has been on the LGBT community's radar for years.

JoinRudy2012.com - and McCain's body isn't even cold yet

Does Rudy Giuliani know something we don't know about the results on November 4? He's starting his campaign -- even asking for contributions -- before Grampy Insane goes down in defeat. Via Political Base, a screen cap in case the JoinRudy2012.com hacks take it offline:

NC Republican Party unleashes anti-gay mailer targeting Dole opponent Kay Hagan

Yesterday I posted about the latest Republican tactic in the U.S. Senate race here in NC (playing a lame ‘evil atheism’ card on Kay Hagan) as Elizabeth Dole sinks in the polls. I said:

Another reason theocrats will never be satisfied

Jill has a good post up about the interview between Sarah Palin and James Dobson, where she played the Sainted Mother of Anti-Choice Martyrdom to the hilt. It definitely made me even more pro-choice than I already was, if that was possible, because god knows that one thing that mandatory childbirth will create is more martyred mothers who put that guilt on their children. If children are a choice, parents have to own that choice and how you parent changes dramatically.* Palin's choice to continue with her pregnancy even after she found out that her baby would have Down's syndrome is fascinating, because she and her admirers not only make a big deal out of it, they characterize it both as a mandatory aspect of her womanhood when that is rhetorically useful and as a choice when that's rhetorically useful. Here's a sample:

NRCC drops ad support for homobigot Marilyn Musgrave, GOP reportedly dumps Bachmann ads

Are we going to see another classic anti-gay Bush toady bite the dust on Nov. 4? It must be on the minds of the National Republican Congressional Committee, which has yanked its ad buy in the Colorado Congressional District in support of Marilyn Musgrave, author of the FMA. Go Betsy Markey! (Colorado Independent):

Your Day In Race

In Michigan, there's a proposal (#2) on the ballot to permit stem cell research in the state. The "no" side has financed a series of ads talking about genetic research gone amok, presuming that we'll somehow turn Michigan into a charmingly Midwestern Gattaca if it goes forward. It also makes the following rather...let's call it insulting comparison between tiny clumps of embryonic cells and the walking, talking, thinking black men at Tuskegee:

Flopsweat Equity

The latest McCain ad of doom - "Sweat Equity." I watched this and can't figure out who on earth will buy this line of bull at this point, given how discredited Joe the Plumber is.

Women who love fictional jerks

And for a little non-election reading, an interesting post on why the character Don Draper on "Mad Men" is attractive to women who should have more self-respect than to find such a cheating SOB sexy. (Via.) It all started with this article that used self-described feminists swooning over Draper to argue that it's further evidence that feminism is a farce, because women's own masochism is the source of their problems. Nice Guys® give a "fuck yeah" and demand the pussy that is their due because they don't think they'd cheat on January Jones with Maggie Siff. At Jezebel, they point out that the women interviewed are career women who have house husbands (which means they're such a teeny tiny minority that you can't extrapolate anything from their behavior), and so perhaps their attraction has something to do---gasp!---with the fact that women are attracted to men they can empathize with.

NC: Republicans play lame 'evil atheism' card on Kay Hagan

Liddy Dole is dropping like a stone in the polls and so the best that the National Republican Senatorial Committee can do at this point is to go after the one group probably more reviled than teh gayz in the mind of the wingnuts - atheists.

$150,000 gulf between Palin fans and the rest of us

Update: Don Surber explains that the $150,000 is a reasonable amount to spend, because women require so much more work to be allowed to leave their homes, presumably because women are just nastier than men au natural and have to be expensively detoxed before men can associate with us. Women, of course, are out of control bitches if we suggest, as I might, that the amount of pride that Surber takes in his lack of personal hygiene makes me feel pity for anyone who encounters him when he emerges from his basement. It's this sort of thing, by the way, that might just be a factor in the intensely annoyed emotions that a lot of women are feeling about this Palin thing.
