AUSTIN, TEXAS -- Two top environmental officials in the state of Texas told Raw Story this week that not only is the state ill-prepared to face a summer this year even hotter than the record-breaking drought of 2011, it has largely neglected to begin planning for the unprecedented drought conditions forecast for the next several decades by the U.S. government's 2013 National Climate Assessment.

Breitbart-sponsored panel of anti-Muslim activists claims their banishment from CPAC is 'stealth jihad'

If Breitbart publisher Steve Bannon was under the impression that giving anti-Muslim activists Pamela Geller, Robert Spencer and Frank Gaffney a rather public platform at this year's Conservative Political Action Conference after the organizers at the American Conservative Union banned them from direct participation would leave them feeling chastened or even grateful for the opportunity, Robert Spencer disabused him of that notion within moments of beginning his address. Rather than touching upon the nominal topic of his speech, "Why I am not a conservative," Spencer lit straight into the exact kind of personal attacks against ACU board members Grover Norquist and Suhail Khan that not only got him banned but from which Bannon had specifically asked him to refrain.

Conservatives bemoan the 'repression' that results from pushing discriminatory policies in America

At the Conservative Political Action Conference on Thursday, Breitbart editor-at-large Ben Shapiro, National Organization of Marriage's president Brian Brown, Republican super-lawyer Celta Mitchell and voting ID and anti-New Black Panther Party activist Hans von Spakovsky convened to discuss "Threats, Harassment, Intimidation, Slander and Bullying From the Obama Administration." But despite its controversial title (and a few incidents about which the audience was given but few details), the panel devolved into an hour in which prominent conservative activists attempted to wrest the mantle of Most Repressed from the liberals they often accuse of playing the victims.

Why is the Family Research Council trying to give conservatives blue balls?

Walking into the exhibit hall at the Gaylord National Resort in Maryland this week, one would be forgiven for an inability to immediately tell the difference between any typical trade show that utilizes the space, and the Conservative Political Action Conference that is holding court here until Saturday. Pens and water bottles abound, along with bags to hold conventioneers' booty, all lined up in booths marked off with blue and white bunting.
