Russian President Vladimir Putin's has set his sights on a member of Donald Trump's Cabinet — by going after his kid.
A Moscow court has ordered the arrest of Conor Kennedy, the son of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., branding him a "mercenary" for a stint spent fighting alongside Ukrainian forces, according to the Russian state media outlet TASS.
TASS also reported that the 32-year-old has been added to an international wanted list. The Daily Beast reported on the development.
If he was arrested, Conor Kennedy would face between seven and 10 years in a Russian prison, according to the report.
But since the case was built in absentia, the warrant carries more symbolism than teeth as he isn't likely to be extradited.
Why Moscow decided to act now — nearly four years after Kennedy first went public about his time in Ukraine — was not explained.
Back in October 2022, Kennedy used Instagram to describe why he'd signed up to fight for Ukraine. He said he was profoundly affected by what he witnessed on the ground and was prepared to die there. He said he'd kept his identity quiet from most people to spare his family worry and avoid special treatment, and he praised the international volunteers he served alongside as genuine freedom fighters from all walks of life.
He fought in the Kharkiv region as part of Ukraine's International Legion, though he didn't say publicly how long his deployment lasted.
Conor is RFK Jr.'s third child and his oldest with ex-wife Mary Richardson.
