CNN panel 'shocked' by New Hampshire exit polls showing red flags for Trump

Republicans moving to vote in the New Hampshire primary, where former President Donald Trump is hoping to knock off his remaining competition in former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, have strikingly moderate policy positions, according to exit polls — and it left a CNN panel stunned.

In particular, they argued, these numbers could be an ominous sign for Trump's chances in a general election — even if he pulls through in New Hampshire tonight.

Ron DeSantis' hometown paper dreads three more years of 'wounded, grudge-bearing governor'

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, following a disastrous campaign and a weak second-place showing in Iowa, ended his presidential ambitions this month — a rapid fall for a figure once considered a rising GOP star and potential post-Trump savior. And the Miami Herald editorial board fears that Floridians will face the brunt of DeSantis' anger over his humiliation for the next three years.

DeSantis' change in tone was evident, the board wrote, from the second he announced he would veto a proposed GOP bill that would establish a state defense fund awarding up to $5 million to former President Donald Trump to pay his legal expenses.

Haley campaign says she plans to stick around until Super Tuesday

Regardless of what happens in the New Hampshire primary on Tuesday, Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley’s campaign says she is sticking around until March 5, or Super Tuesday, when voters in Maine and 15 other states will cast their vote in their primary elections.

In a memo released Tuesday, Haley’s campaign argues that there is “significant fertile ground” in Super Tuesday states for the former South Carolina governor to scoop up independent and unaffiliated voters.

We’re still waiting for the FL Supreme Court to decide about abortion rights

Amid the weekend’s commemorations of Roe v. Wade and lamentations over Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, some observers acknowledged the elephant in the room: two pending Florida Supreme Court rulings governing abortion rights.

The state’s high court heard oral arguments on Sept. 8, 2023 in a challenge by Planned Parenthood affiliates and other providers to Florida’s 15-week abortion ban but, more than four months later and now in 2024, has yet to issue its ruling.

'I'm a very forgiving person': Trump praises himself for ending 'DeSanctus' slur

Former President Donald Trump suggested he could again find himself allied with Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley if she dropped out and endorsed him.

On Tuesday, at a campaign stop in Londonderry, New Hampshire, Trump was asked why he had stopped using a slur for Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL). In recent months, the former president referred to DeSantis as "DeSanctimonious" and then just "DeSanctus."

'Pure, uncut Trumpism' now infects GOP so much there's 'nothing he can do to lose': report

Republican voters have already shown they overwhelmingly prefer to keep Donald Trump in control of their party.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis dropped out Sunday after falling short in Iowa, and Nikki Haley could be out of the race soon unless she surprises in New Hampshire, showing that GOP voters don't want Trump "lite" when the real deal is running for his third nomination, reported Wall Street Journal columnist Molly Ball.

Morning Joe predicts doom for GOP: 'If Trump wins tonight Republicans lose in the fall'

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough said Republican voters would seal their party's doom in November by essentially handing the nomination to Donald Trump.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis dropped out of the GOP primary after a poor showing in the Iowa caucus, and Trump has a chance to wrap up the Republican presidential nomination if Nikki Haley finishes a distant second in New Hampshire, but the "Morning Joe" host predicted the party would be toast in November if the former president was the nominee.

Trump's attack of DeSantis relied on a bullying campaign to shred his dignity: report

Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) couldn't go toe-to-toe against Donald Trump in 2024.

Ron DeSantis vows to veto bill to create legal defense fund for Trump

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis offered a tepid endorsement of former President Donald Trump when he dropped out of the 2024 presidential race over the weekend. But he apparently draws the line at using his state's taxpayer funds to bail out Trump from his legal expenses.

That's exactly what at least some Republican lawmakers in the Sunshine State are proposing. A new bill announced this month with the sponsorship of state Sen. Ileana Garcia and the backing of Florida Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis would establish a "Florida Freedom Fighters Fund," allowing up to $5 million in support for a presidential candidate running this state who faces a federal or state criminal trial. Patronis said the bill is vital to defending candidates from "legal, partisan, political attacks by the Department of Justice or State Attorneys."

Laura Loomer accuses magazine of using 1950s stock photo to push for Trump assassination

Laura Loomer, the pro-Trump right-wing activist whose history of unhinged behavior even worries some of her fellow MAGA devotees, posted a bizarre new conspiracy theory accusing The Atlantic magazine of sending subliminal messages to assassinate former President Donald Trump.

In particular, Loomer says that a recent Atlantic article about the rapid decline of both inflation and crime over the last year is actually a call to murder Trump given that it features stock photos of a bullet hole shot through a piece of glass and a fistful of dollar bills that happen to contain the numbers 4 and 5, which Loomer believes is code for the 45th president.

'Truly confused': ABC News' Jon Karl stunned that Trump seems 'out of it'

ABC News' Jon Karl on Monday marveled at the fact that Trump has made multiple slipups in recent days, including in a speech where he seemed to confuse GOP rival Nikki Haley with former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).

"Donald Trump is truly confused about who Nikki Haley is, thinks somehow that she was in charge of security at the Capitol on January 6th," Karl said during an appearance on "Good Morning America." "We've seen him confuse Joe Biden with Barack Obama, he thinks that he beat Obama. We saw at one point, he talked about how Biden was going to get us into World War II... There have been several moments on the campaign trail where he has seemed, quite frankly, out of it."
