'Melania plays the long game': Analyst warns Trump's wife's absence is 'calculated'

Former First Lady Melania Trump continues to be largely absent as her husband tries to claw his way back into the White House — and it is by design, wrote Mary Jordan for The Washington Post.

But not, as is commonly assumed, because she has lost her loyalty to a husband who was convicted of falsifying hush payments to an adult film star he slept with early in their marriage.

‘Mortified’ RFK Jr. apologizes for leaked video of Trump spinning vaccine conspiracies

Hours before announcing he had chosen U.S. Senator JD Vance (R-OH) as his vice presidential running mate, Donald Trump met in Milwaukee on Monday with conspiracy theorist and anti-vaxxer Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who is an independent candidate for President of the United States.

Tucker Carlson, the far-right wing former Fox News host, "helped broker the meeting," The New York Times reports. Politico adds the meeting took place "to discuss the possibility of the independent candidate endorsing the Republican nominee, according to multiple people familiar with the huddle." The Kennedy camp denied he has any intention of dropping out of the race, despite his inability to gain any substantial traction that would make him a serious contender for the White House. RFK Jr. is polling in the high single digits to about 10 percent, according to FiveThirtyEight, which is enough for him to be a spoiler, likely helping Trump more than President Joe Biden.

“Having finished the prayer and pledge, and rendition of ‘God Bless America,'” LaPolitics Weekly editor and publisher Jeremy Alford reported, “RNC delegates almost immediately begin chanting the same war cry @realDonaldTrump emitted upon being shot: ‘Fight! Fight! Fight!’ ”

Jordan and Gaetz buried by ex-DOJ official for 'frat-boy' antics during Merchan hearing

According to a former counsel to ex-Attorney General Janet Reno who was called to testify in a hearing conducted by House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan (R-OH), it was nothing less than a clown show with the Ohio Republican and Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) performing at center stage.

In a column for the Daily Beast, attorney Shan Wu claimed the hearing on the supposed "weaponization" of the law against Donald Trump was a deeply unserious affair with Republicans more interested in playing for the cameras than asking serious, substantive questions.

As he wrote, he appeared to answer questions about the trial of the former president in Manhattan where Trump was accused — and later convicted — on 34 counts of fraud related to paying off an adult film star before the 2016 presidential election. As he noted, the hearing before the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government took place before the verdict had been rendered.

Focusing on his personal experience under questioning by Florida's Gaetz, Wu expressed disgust at his absurd questions that seemed designed to amuse Jordan rather than a sincere attempt to understand the law.

Dem lawmaker shreds Wolf Blitzer to his face for Biden media 'feeding frenzy'

A Democratic lawmaker slapped back Friday morning at CNN media pundits he blames for a "feeding frenzy" that could imperil President Joe Biden's reelection campaign.

Wolf Blitzer triggered the heated debate with Rep. John Garamendi (D-CA) when he chose to ask about calls for Biden to resign rather than the president's recent press conference, which the California Democrat called a "tour de force."

Critics: Where’s Trump’s hour-long press conference with policy questions from reporters?

Following President Joe Biden's 58-minute long unscripted, solo press conference without a teleprompter, fielding questions from reporters and responding with nuance and depth on a range of issues including foreign and domestic policy, some critics are calling on his opponent, ex-president Donald Trump, to do the same.

It's been a long time since Trump has held an actual unscripted, lengthy, solo press conference, with questions from reporters, and well-over a year since he did one that wasn't centered on his legal crises.

‘Dead heat’: Biden ahead or tied with Trump in two new post-debate polls

Two new just-released national polls taken well after the June 27 presidential debate show President Joe Biden tied with or one point ahead of Donald Trump. This comes after a new study released Wednesday found the presidential debate "had little if any impact" on voters' preference, and showed President Biden retained more of his supporters than Donald Trump did.

The Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos poll released Thursday morning "finds Biden and former president Donald Trump in a dead heat in the contest for the popular vote, with both candidates receiving 46 percent support among registered voters. Those numbers are nearly identical to the results of an ABC-Ipsos poll in April," The Washington Post reported.

‘No Change’: Report finds Biden debate performance had ‘almost no impact’ on 2024 race

Despite hundreds of articles in The New York Times and countless others throughout the media, and eight House Democratic lawmakers declaring Joe Biden should end his re-election campaign, the President’s performance at the June 27 debate has had “almost no impact” on voters’ preferences, a new Northeastern University study finds.

“Led by David Lazer, university distinguished professor of political science and computer science at Northeastern, the report indicates that the debate had little if any impact on people’s voting preference. Lazer hopes the report helps illustrate the dangers of making a mountain out of a molehill when it comes to the media interpreting data,” reports Northeastern Global News, which is published by the University.“

'Really goes haywire': Fox News can't rein in Trump's raving reply to yes-no question

A Fox News radio host opened a can of nonsensical words Wednesday morning when he asked Donald Trump, the former president and convicted felon, a yes-or-no question.

Brian Kilmeade repeatedly tried, and failed, to redirect Trump's rambling answer to his question about the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. "There are people who believe you want to get out of NATO — is that what you want to do?" he'd asked.

'What about Project 25?' John Fetterman turns the table on Fox News over Biden questions

Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) used a Fox News interview about President Joe Biden to call out a right-wing plan called Project 2025 that would reshape the government if Donald Trump wins reelection.
