Former President Donald Trump's children are contradicting themselves as they try to wriggle out of the civil fraud trial brought by New York State, one moment claiming they are smarter than state officials about finances and the next claiming that they were never aware of these day-to-day decisions.

Donald Trump saw a legal victory on Friday when an appeals court temporarily stayed the gag order put on him in the criminal D.C. elections case, but that win will be short-lived, according to legal experts who say they expect the gag order to be reinstated on appeal.

Trump has been fined multiple times for violating a gag order in his New York civil fraud case, and that order was expanded Friday to include the former president's attorneys, who continued to accuse the judge's law clerk of partisanship. The order being stayed is a separate one, put into place by Judge Tanya Chutkan in the criminal elections action.

"...the Court finds that '[I]f jurors' identities [in the trial of this case] were disclosed, there would be a strong likelihood of unwanted media attention of the jurors, influence attempts, and/or harassment or worse by supports of Mr. Trump [and/or by Mr. Trump himself]," according to the Nov. 3 order by US district judge Lewis Kaplan in Manhattan and first reported by Politico's Kyle Cheney.
