Critics ridicule Vance after Trump gives him another public trashing: 'Not that into you'

The internet had a good laugh on Thursday after President Donald Trump denied that he told donors to prepare for Vice President JD Vance to run for president in 2028.

Trump was speaking in the Oval Office after announcing his new executive order on Thursday aimed at targeting "birth tourism," when a reporter asked Trump to clarify reports about his alleged comments.

"There is a report that you told donors that they need to get JD Vance elected in 2028," a reporter said. "Is that your official endorsement?" ...

Trump's made his pick for successor as president — and it's all about money: analyst

President Donald Trump has signaled who he would like to be president in 2028 — and it's not Vice President JD Vance or Secretary of State Marco Rubio, an analyst revealed on Monday.

Jonathan V. Last, editor of The Bulwark, argued that Trump Media & Technology Group — the parent company of the president's Truth Social platform — has moved to launch a new product giving subscribers access to posts before they go live in the public feed, calling it potentially "the greatest trick in the history of insider trading."

It would give Trump and his family access to information before it's released to the public, and allow them to sell off that information — all tied to market manipulation, social media platforms and stock trading, Last wrote. And it's complicated....

'He gives me the willies': JD Vance's 2028 hopes brutalized by Trump voters

President Donald Trump's voters might not feel the same about Vice President JD Vance as they do about the commander-in-chief, two analysts revealed on Friday.

The Bulwark's publisher Sarah Longwell and managing editor Sam Stein shared in a Substack video how Trump supporters in a recent focus group said they don't have the same interest in Vance as they do the president.

"We were doing a group last week of Biden to Trump voters, and we were asking about Vance and their responses were straight," Longwell said. ...

James Carville predicts next GOP candidate turns on Trump from surprising direction

Veteran political strategist James Carville predicted that the next GOP primary front-runners will attack President Donald Trump from an unexpected direction.

In a clip from the Politics War Room podcast, a viewer asked Carville if the GOP will "return to normal" by nominating candidates like Jeb Bush or Nikki Haley in the 2028 presidential election, which will decide Trump's successor. Carville and co-host Al Hunt doubted that future successful GOP presidential candidates will come from the center-right like Bush or Haley, however.

"A candidate, or more than one, is going to run for the Republican nominee and attack Trump on the basis that he lost connection with MAGA," Carville predicted. "He wasn't MAGA enough."...

Vance team in panic that doomsday scenario will end White House dreams: expert

Vice President JD Vance and his team are holding out hope for one thing — that President Donald Trump can stay alive long enough for Vance to have a chance at a two-term presidency, according to an analyst.

As midterms draw closer and MAGA starts to picture the future, Vance and Republicans have serious concerns over Trump’s declining health, Mike Rothschild, journalist and conspiracy theory expert, told Raw Story in an exclusive interview.

The White House has attempted to quell rumors that the president’s mental acuity and physical well-being have shifted, but behind-the-scenes and among MAGA circles, the conversations are different....

JD Vance just dismantled his 2028 prospects with 'The View' interview: analyst

Vice President JD Vance was under fire on Tuesday after entering the lion's den on "The View" — prompting a response from an analyst who referred to his leadership as overblown.

Jonah Goldberg, editor-in-chief of The Dispatch, told CNN's Kasie Hunt that although Vance could have political ambitions for 2028, he might end up in the running for president in a crowded race.

"Points for trying," Goldberg said. "I personally think, and I'm a little annoyed that the conventional wisdom is catching up with me, that JD Vance has been the most overrated major politician of the last few years. He underperformed every other Republican when he ran for Senate. He had to get establishment Republicans like Mitch McConnell to help him out, to get him over the finish line. This idea that he is going to inherit Trump's mantle is nonsense. There's not going to be a single mantle. There's going to be a bunch of people running as different kinds of MAGA or MAGA-adjacent people, and probably even some normie Republicans." ...
