Catholic League President Bill Donohue on Monday demanded that HBO cancel Real Time with Bill Maher after the late night comedian invited on a gay guest who blasted priests who sexually abuse children.

Bill Donohue, president of the Catholic League, believes that the Catholic church has gone too easy on the survivors of sex abuse by clergy, and has vowed to fight them "one by one," says a post at the blog Right Wing Watch.

But the flagrant blame-shifting and rape apologism from devoted Catholic pundits who can't imagine not having a church to justify their seething fear of female sexuality just keeps on keeping on. I shouldn't have even opened up Douthat's apology for the rapist-shielding church, which I knew was going to be an attempt to get some kind of "moderate" defense into the mainstream media so that the central problems of the Catholic church---namely their patriarchal, authoritarian values system that Douthat loves so much---would go untouched. I get the strong impression from Douthat and lackey Bill Donohue that if this means the rapes continue, then they will be okay with that price, even if Douthat shakes his head with disappointment.

Hey, we wouldn't be a proper evil secular liberal blog if we didn't observe the War on Christmas. Of course, the way that liberals actually observe it is to point out that it's strictly a conservative holiday, invented and observed only by conservatives who want to believe they are martyrs at the hands of invisible secularists who run into their houses, snatching presents from their children's hands. That this has never happened has no bearing on the outrage---abuses that happen only in the mind of conservatives are, if anything, even better evidence that they are beset by liberal demons. After all, those out to get them are all the more powerful for being magic enough to be imaginary. Ask Sarah Palin. But don't think that just because conservatives made up Christmas warriors in their head for their own ends that liberals can evade responsibility. After all, even things that can't possibly be our fault are our fault.

Every time this man opens his trap, it's a sewer of BS that flows out.

Wow. All of the wars against Christmas usually revolve around some fundie haranguing about Christianity and the baby Jesus being supplanted by "Happy Holidays."
