David Letterman shot down claims from CBS amid its MAGA makeover that "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert" is slated to end over financial reasons, TMZ reported on Tuesday.

The legendary comedian told The New York Times that he was in "disbelief" when he found out that "The Late Show," which Letterman helped create and formerly hosted, was ending.

"Then I wondered: What the hell have they done to Stephen [Colbert]? And I would say farther down on the list is your point: Wait a minute, this used to be my show. It’s like driving by your old neighborhood and realizing that where you used to live, they’re putting up an adult bookstore," Letterman told The Times....

Stephen Colbert made a brief reference Thursday night on his current program about his next job.

Friday night on CBS' "Late Show with David Letterman," host David Letterman devoted a portion of his opening monologue to the unfolding crisis in Syria under the leadership of "evil weasel" Bashar al-Assad. Letterman did note one glaring flaw in the current U.S. plan, however.

The desire to scalp someone, to separate someone from his job as a show of power to make the wingnuts of America feel like real men who break shit again, has gotten to the point where they're self-righteously calling David Letterman a pervert and a pedophile because he made a joke lampooning an adult woman who is roaming the country preaching abstinence with a baby on her hip. It's true that somewhere wires got crossed, and the daughter Palin took to a Yankees game was actually her 14-year-old and not her 18-year-old, but it's obvious to anyone with two brain cells to rub together that the joke only worked if you thought it was Bristol Palin. And in case you have any doubts, Letterman took great pains to apologize for inadvertently mocking a 14-year-old.

No, it's not when Dr. Tiller's assassin Scott Roeder called the AP from jail and complained about getting treated like he was in jail for murdering someone, which is just an extension of the attitude you get from "pro-lifers" who go into clinics for abortions and demand to wait in a separate room from all the trash who got there by fucking. It came from this bizarre episode, where David Letterman made a joke about Sarah Palin bringing her daughter to a Yankee game, where she got knocked up by Alex Rodriguez.
