Trump just got played into making a serious blunder: report

President Donald Trump made the one move that American presidents before him have been trying to avoid for years.

Trump's decision to target Iran in joint military strikes with Israel has thrown the United States into the midst of a conflict with not just the Iranian regime, but also Russia, according to The Swamp, The Daily Beast's Substack.

"Donald Trump is being drawn into the kind of proxy war with Russia that his predecessors have been trying to avoid since the Bay of Pigs," The Swamp reported....

‘Doomed to fail’: Trump cautioned his ‘cultural coup’ is backfiring

An analyst Thursday described how President Donald Trump's "cultural coup" has backfired among artists and his growing attacks on the arts are "doomed to fail."

A wave of artists have cancelled their performances after the renamed Kennedy Center and the Trump administration has threatened to sue them for millions over resisting the current regime — yet that won't stop artists from defying his oppressive moves to try and silence them, Salon columnist Heather Digby Parton wrote.

"For more than 50 years, the Kennedy Center has served as the capital’s premier cultural center — until now," Digby Parton explained. "Donald Trump, who has no concept of the meaning of either art or culture, had his flunky board commandeer Kennedy’s memorial by renaming it 'The Donald J. Trump and The John F. Kennedy Memorial Performing Arts Center.' It’s bizarre that any living president, much less one who is still serving, would want his name on a memorial to a dead man, particularly one who is still revered by many Americans. But Trump is single minded in his desire to mark his territory no matter where his tinkle, to use a famous Nancy Pelosi term, splashes."

8 ways Trump doesn’t become president

Only vague signs point to the possibility of piercing Donald Trump’s orange armor and political impunity.

Trump dispatched Nikki Haley, his last serious challenger for the Republican presidential nomination, in early March. But Haley fared better than expected in May’s Indiana primary, where she was still on the ballot if not in the race, possibly indicating softness in Trump’s support.

If Trump is convicted on any of the 88 felony charges he faces in four court cases, it could cost him his freedom — and support. An ABC/Ipsos poll said one-fifth of Trump voters would either reconsider or withdraw their support if he’s convicted of a felony. ...

‘Morality does not exist for him’: Remembering Ted Cruz’s epic Trump rant

It’s the 8th anniversary of an epic anti-Donald Trump rant, one of the best rants in modern political history.

But it wasn’t a Democrat or some left-wing commentator who delivered it.

On the morning of May 3, 2016, when Trump would win Indiana’s presidential primary — and all but clinch the Republican nomination en route to him capturing the presidency — his soon-to-be-vanquished rival, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), made a last campaign push. He went to an elementary school and greeted voters outside of Wolf’s Bar-B-Q in Evansville, Ind. ...

Kennedy assassination: Memory and myth refuse to die after 50 years

These days, it is only the world's grandparents who can tell you where they were when they heard John F Kennedy was dead. For decades that was a staple of the global collective memory, a question that could be asked in Berlin or London as readily as New York or Los Angeles. Today that memory becomes exactly 50 years old.
