Tennessee florist refuses service to Republican National Committee

Tennessee florist refuses service to Republican National Committee

A Republican National Convention fundraising event scheduled this weekend could go without flowers after a florist in Nashville, Tennessee, reportedly refused to provide its services over the GOP's gun positions.

The FLWR Shop wrote a letter to the Republican National Committee, saying the shop had received a request to provide floral arrangements for a Nashville fundraising event planned for mid-April. The letter, which was made public on Instagram, indicates that former President Donald Trump and "other prominent members of the Republican party" will be in attendance.

The shop said it declined the opportunity, noting instead that it would use the spotlight to push the GOP on its stance on gun violence. Going even further, the letter encourages fellow small business owners in the area to follow its lead....

Ron DeSantis' aides told to stop Florida Republicans from endorsing Trump: Report

Republican lawmakers in Florida are being approached by Gov. Ron DeSantis's aides in an effort to stop them endorsing Donald Trump for president, according to a report.

DeSantis has instructed his team members to call at least six members of Florida’s congressional delegation in an effort to halt any endorsement, according to an NBC News report. The media outlet cited four anonymous sources close to the six individuals who were called by the DeSantis machine: Reps. Aaron Bean, Vern Buchanan, Kat Cammack, Mario Diaz-Balart, Laurel Lee, and Greg Steube.

One Republican consultant for one of those contacted said that there's "clearly some angst from the DeSantis camp that so many members of the state’s congressional delegation are throwing their support behind Trump.” The consultant noted that Rep. Matt Gaetz and Rep. Byron Donalds have already endorsed Trump for the 2024 spot....

The New Progressive Party is traditionally considered more conservative than its counterpart, called the Popular Democratic Party.

Vargas-Rodriguez was charged with accepting bribes in early May 2022, when a federal grand jury in San Juan returned an indictment for conspiracy, soliciting bribes, and extortion. Javier García-Pérez, the Mayor of Aguas Buenas, was separately hit with the same charges, according to the authorities. Javier García-Pérez allegedly took in at least $32,000 in cash payments from August 2020 through September 2021 from the owners of the companies....
