Beyoncé petitions IRS, requests trial after allegedly owing $2.69 million in back taxes

After the Internal Revenue Service claimed Beyoncé owed nearly $2.7 million in back taxes from 2018 and 2019, she has now decided to file a petition disputing the claim. The 41-year-old music and fashion icon filed the petition earlier this month, and has also requested a trial over the matter in Los Angeles, reports People. A potential date for the trial is unknown. The IRS originally dealt Beyoncé a Notice of Deficiency, which claimed she owed a total of $805,850 from 2018 and $1,442,747 from 2019, in addition to $449,719.40 in combined penalties from the two-year period. Oscars change traditional red carpet to champagne shade for 95th Academy Awards

The Oscars are undergoing their own image overhaul for the 95th anniversary. As Hollywood’s biggest names gear up for its biggest night for Sunday’s Academy Awards, they won’t be walking on a traditional red carpet. The normal red-colored carpet, which has become a fixture for the fashion industry, will now be the color of champagne. Oscars host Jimmy Kimmel was on hand to assist with the rollout on Wednesday, joking that the new color indicates the confidence of show producers that no blood will be shed — a tongue-in-cheek reference to last year when Will Smith slapped Chris Rock during the l......

Jon Stewart addresses Ye and ‘weird Jew paranoia bulls—’

Funnyman Jon Stewart took a few minutes to address a busy week of celebrity antisemitism before running off to a 1 p.m. “Jewish media mafia meeting” after his Wednesday podcast. His sarcastic reference was to comments made by performer Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, who said during a Tuesday interview with NewsNation host Chris Cuomo that after he wore a “White Lives Matter” shirt to a fashion show, “The Jewish underground media mafia already started attacking me.” Stewart, on his “The Problem with Jon Stewart” podcast, accused the “Gold Digger” rapper of lumping all Jews into one category ......

Ivana Trump is buried at Donald Trump’s New Jersey golf club. Could that mean a tax break for the former president?

Ivana Trump’s death grabbed international headlines, but her New Jersey burial place is now garnering suspicion that its location could mean tax breaks for her ex-husband, former President Donald Trump. Ivana, Trump’s first wife, died July 14 after suffering blunt impact injuries during a fall at her home in New York City, ABC reports. A medical examiner ruled her death an accident. She was 73. She has since been buried in a plot of land at Trump National Golf Club, a sprawling course in Bedminster, New Jersey, that opened in 2004. Now, due to the intricacies of that state's tax laws and how t......

Stars stun on red carpet as Met Gala returns

NEW YORK — The fashion world’s favorite spring sartorial soiree got underway Monday as the glitterati struck a pose on the grand staircase of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. “Gilded glamour, white-tie” was the dress code for the 2022 Met Gala’s return after being delayed for two years due to the coronavirus pandemic. Blake Lively, who arrived on the red carpet early, was in a New York State of Mind. The “A Simple Plan” star turned heads in a strapless, art deco-styled gown designed by Versace Atelier with big satin bow and matching gloves. The inner panels of the gown were crystal metallic lea......

As Ghislaine Maxwell’s family is escorted into the courthouse, an accuser waits in the cold

NEW YORK — The line at the Thurgood Marshall United States Courthouse in lower Manhattan begins in the dead cold of night, with a handful of men, shivering under blankets or umbrellas, huddling sometimes in a nearby parked car to keep warm in the wee hours of the morning. The line-sitters, as they are called, earn $30 to $50 an hour for holding a place in line from 2 to 7 a.m. for those who can afford it — mostly journalists, but some members of the public — to guarantee themselves a seat in the courtroom where British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell is on trial, charged with sexual trafficking.
