'The fix was in': Cincinnati police union boss fumes after department won't reinstate N-word-spewing cop

A former police officer in Cincinnati, Ohio this week lost her bid to get her job back after she was fired last year for getting caught on camera saying, "F---ing n---ers, I f---ing hate them!"

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that arbitrators this week denied former Cincinnati cop Rose Valentino's request for reinstatement after she tried to argue that she was unfairly fired for saying the N-word when other officers who had used the word had not faced such severe punishments.

However, the arbitrators argued that the context of Valentino's remarks made them much worse than officers who had used the word in an offhand way.

"[Valentino] was not terminated for use of a racial slur only," the decision stated "She was discharged for using a slur while voicing hatred in a profanity-laden tirade against an entire community she had a duty and responsibility to protect."

Dan Hils, Cincinnati's police union president, fumed to the Enquirer about the arbitrators' decision and said that Valentino deserved to be reinstated.

"I should have known that the fix was in when the city introduced Joe Mallory, NAACP president, as their star witness in the arbitration case," Hils said. "When Mr. Mallory hinted to the arbitrators there would be trouble if Ms. Valentino was given her job back, I am certain they felt intimidated."
