Before he became president, Donald Trump had a bizarre fixation on a scandalous aspect of the office, biographer Michael Wolff claimed Monday.
According to The Daily Beast, Wolff wrote in his Substack, "Howl," that deceased child trafficker Jeffrey Epstein told him Trump "knew his star turn on The Apprentice was fading and that he urgently needed a new platform for the promotion of Donald Trump — indeed, he could talk of little else, how to avoid television’s fate: cancellation.”
And he told, in vulgar detail, the one thing that Trump thought seizing extra fame through the presidency would do for him.
Specifically, he wanted to do the thing that nearly ended former President Bill Clinton's career.
“Trump is fascinated by Clinton,” Wolff said Epstein told him. “That was what he was always trying to figure out — how do you get laid when you’re president? That’s why he was obsessed with Kennedy, because JFK, even in the White House, was able to (expletive) with impunity. Donald can’t give up (expletive). Not possible.”
Epstein, who did unspeakable things to children at his estates around the country, famously died by suicide in his prison cell awaiting trial in 2019.
Since then, the police files surrounding the case, and the lack of transparency around them, have led to public outrage, with people across the political spectrum accusing the federal government of a cover-up to protect rich and powerful people who may have been involved with Epstein's crimes against children.
Trump has gone to great lengths to deny his former friendship with Epstein, even suing the Wall Street Journal for reporting that Trump had written Epstein a bawdy birthday poem decades ago.
