Trump sends MAGA into a tailspin with bizarre ballroom speech after 'catastrophic defeat'

President Donald Trump gave a surprise round of remarks on Wednesday — but it wasn't about the overwhelming Republican midterm defeat that took place the night before.

Rather, Trump spoke about his White House ballroom project, as well as other plans for construction across Washington, D.C. "We've beautified it, we got rid of the homeless encampments where they took over in your parks," he said.

But even several key Trump supporters on social media weren't buying it — and lashed out at the president for hiding.

"Catastrophic defeat because of the bad economy and Trump’s immediate response is to show off his ballroom," wrote far-right analyst Matt Walsh. "I wasn’t expecting him to have the best response but this is far worse than I anticipated."

"Good to see this pivot in messaging after a devastating loss based on economic resentment," wrote Auron MacIntyre, a host at the right-wing outlet The Blaze.

Blaze editor Daniel Horowitz had a similar take, writing, "24 more months of this. Good luck running on this, especially if you are freaken in the same admin!"

Talk show host Jesse Kelly, meanwhile, simply posted a meme of a stick figure looking at his computer and then smashing it with a hammer, dousing it with gas and lighting it, then finally shooting himself in the head.
