Just days after the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced that the city was ending its contract with the Trump Organization to operate Trump Golf Links at Ferry Point, a public golf course in the Bronx.
"The President incited a rebellion against the United States government that killed five people and threatened to derail the constitutional transfer of power," de Blasio said in a statement from January. "The City of New York will not be associated with those unforgivable acts in any shape, way or form, and we are immediately taking steps to terminate all Trump Organization contracts."
Trump fired back on Tuesday, accusing the Democratic mayor of being biased against him for years and using the Capitol riot as an excuse to end the contract. In his statement, Trump accused de Blasio of wanting to "CONFISCATE the project" altogether.
Trump argued that the golf club employs a large number of people and has been "a showcase of beauty and success."
According to Trump, DeBlasio's move is "what happens in Communist Countries."
