Two hours after Kimberly Guilfoyle was effectively fired as U.S. Ambassador to Greece, President Donald Trump told reporters on live TV that she had never been part of his family, the Daily Beast reported.
Asked about her downfall as he left the White House for Alaska on Tuesday, Trump downplayed the connection to his eldest son.
“No, she wasn’t a member of my family. She, I guess, dated my son a long time ago,” Trump said.
The dismissal was a sharp turn for Guilfoyle, who was once engaged to Donald Trump Jr. for nearly three years before they split in 2024, and who served as a prominent surrogate for the president’s political movement. The Daily Beast’s related coverage describes her removal as unfolding on live television.
Moments before Trump spoke, Guilfoyle responded to her exit online with praise for the president. She wrote that her gratitude and respect for him and Secretary of State Marco Rubio “remain unwavering,” and vowed to remain a loyal supporter.
A longtime member of the Trump family's inner circle, Guilfoyle's standing fell apart after a damning new Wall Street Journal report that Guilfoyle tried to sell administration access to a Trump donor in exchange for paying down her $100,000 American Express bill. "It won't show up anywhere if you wire money," she told him in a Signal message.
Guilfoyle has called the allegations against her false and said she’d vigorously defend her name, reputation and integrity.
