'A deal with the devil': Morning Joe's Mika slams Mitch McConnell for his change of heart on Trump
Mika Brzezinski (MSNBC)

Reacting to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's (R-KY) comments that he would support Donald Trump if he becomes the Republican Party presidential nominee in 2024, "Morning Joe" co-host Mika Brezinski rained hell on the Republican for "making a deal with the devil."

The MSNBC host went so far as to point out that McConnell's wife -- former Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao -- even quit in disgust over the president's actions that led to the riot at the Capitol on Jan. 6th.

With co-host Joe Scarborough discussing Trump's legal problems that will dog him if he plans another run, saying the ex-president will be, "fighting so many lawsuits that he's never going to come up for air to run for president of anything. That is his own fear himself, that he will be fighting lawsuits and running from the law the rest of his life," Brezinski brought McConnell into the mix.

"I don't understand that deal with the devil at all," she began. "I guess I could understand it when a few votes hung in the balance. This is a strange balance that Mitch McConnell is striking; having it both ways and putting the function of our democracy and security of members in Congress in danger yet again. Trying to pretend it didn't happen. Trying to pretend Trump somehow didn't happen -- and he can run again?"

"No, I thought you said there was an insurrection. I thought you said it was all because of him and his words. I thought you said that actually he had so much power and he used it and abused it and used it to bring the people in and attack our Capitol," she continued. "But now you would vote for him again? Wow. Your wife left in disgust during the insurrection? Okay."
