‘I hate it’: Trump reveals what Melania really thinks of his rally performances

President Donald Trump revealed Friday that first lady Melania Trump isn’t exactly a fan of his unusual rally performances — especially his dancing and exaggerated gestures.

The moment happened at a rally in Dalton, Georgia, as Trump was mocking a transgender weightlifter when he suddenly shifted to his wife’s complaints about his behavior onstage.

“I’m not going to do it today because my wife gets so — she says it’s so unpresidential,” Trump told the crowd.

“She said, ‘When you do the whole thing with the weightlifting and the swimming and the dancing when you leave, I hate it. You’re a president.”

Trump said he had a simple response.

“I said, ‘I just won in a landslide. Leave me alone, will you?’”

The president then praised his wife, bringing up her documentary, “Melania,” before returning to her complaints.

“She’s a very elegant person, but she hates when I do the weightlifting,” Trump said.

But Trump proceeded to act out a weightlifting competition anyway, making exaggerated gestures as he imitated athletes struggling to lift weights.

“Oh, she hates it,” Trump repeated.

As he wrapped up his Georgia rally Friday, Trump broke out in his familiar dance as the Village People’s Y.M.C.A. played.
