President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to vent his frustrations Tuesday night as Democrats swept to victory in the midterm elections.
Democrats won control of both the House and the Senate, setting up a showdown between Congress and the White House when the new Congress convenes in January. Only twice in the last 50 years has control of both chambers changed in the same election, CNN noted.
Trump lashed out at Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, a longtime ally he had endorsed, after Abbott lost to Democrat Gina Hinojosa.
“If Greg Abbott, the Governor of Texas, hadn’t become a RINO in the last six months of his Political Life, he wouldn’t have lost. He went back to his original formula, and it wasn’t pretty!” Trump posted on Truth Social.
Trump also claimed Republicans would have won “IN A LANDSLIDE” if he had been on the ballot, and promised to weigh in on the night’s results.
“I’m going to become a Political Pundit, both good and bad, on the reasons these Candidates won and lost!” Trump posted.
Despite his complaints, Trump told the New York Times he is “absolutely willing to accept” the results, according to Axios.
