President Donald Trump’s mounting frustration with turmoil inside his administration is wearing on his allies as Republicans head toward the midterm elections, a prominent MAGA insider told PunchUp.
“I think it’s just put him in a foul mood. It’s put everybody else in a foul mood, too,” the figure, described as having close connections to the administration, told reporter Tom Latchem in an exclusive Wednesday.
According to PunchUp, the insider said Trump’s “growing frustration is affecting his judgment.”
“He’s also just been in a s----y mood lately,” the source said. “It’s just one damn thing after another.”
The MAGA insider pointed to controversies involving Kimberly Guilfoyle, Ric Grenell, Alina Habba and recently dismissed White House press secretary Katie Zacharia.
“Whether it’s the KG [Kimberly Guilfoyle] stuff, whether it’s the Rick Grenell and Alina Habba stuff, whether it’s Katie Zacharia, nothing is working the way it’s supposed to right now,” the source said.
“Sometimes you go through times where every single little thing is a f---ing disaster. We’ve all been there.”
The insider also questioned Trump’s handling of Zacharia, saying her introduction at the White House lectern “kinda set her up for failure.”
“I think that’s showing he’s got a shortness right now that he hasn’t had before,” the source said, adding, “there’s no time for juvenile mistakes right now.”
Trump’s predicament has only worsened alongside “increasingly disastrous” polling, PunchUp reported Wednesday, citing a Reuters/Ipsos survey putting his approval at 31% and Democrats ahead by 12 points among registered voters with just under two weeks before Election Day.
“We can get completely wiped out, and it wouldn’t shock me,” the insider said. “And we could hold both houses, and it wouldn’t shock me.”
