CNN right-winger gets shut down as he uses '2 different sets of facts' to defend Trump

A conservative commentator was hit with a quick fact check on CNN after excusing President Donald Trump's interference in the Texas redistricting mess.

Border Patrol agents poured into downtown Los Angeles as California Gov. Gavin Newsom and other Democrats outlined plans to redraw California's congressional map in response to a Republican push to do the same in Texas to their own advantage, and conservative journalist Rob Bluey told "CNN This Morning" that the situations in the two states were completely different.

WASHINGTON — Before leaving town for the August recess, Senate Commerce Committee Chair Ted Cruz was forced to pull a measure aimed at limiting federal government use of facial recognition data captured at airports by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

'He lies every time!' MAGA analyst slapped down on CNN as she spins plunging economy

President Donald Trump's policies are doing more damage to the economy than his administration is letting on, a CNN panel argued on Thursday.

According to the latest inflation data, producer prices increased by 3.3% over the last year. That means businesses are paying more for the materials they use to make products for consumers. Hiring has also slowed considerably, the figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics suggest.

'They didn't vote for this!': Panel slams MAGA defense of federal agents crashing LA event

The panel on CNN's "NewsNight with Abby Phillip" erupted after a self-proclaimed "MAGA lefty" defended federal agents patrolling outside of the California governor's press event on Thursday.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, held a press conference where he announced the state legislature would enter a special session to adopt new election maps. The move came in response to Texas Republicans working to redraw their election maps ahead of the 2026 midterms. Border Patrol agents were seen conducting immigration checks outside of the event, according to media reports.

Wall Street Journal shreds Trump's trade problem: 'Gets worse the closer you look'

President Donald Trump's tariff policy could soon create political headaches for the administration, according to a new op-ed.

On Thursday, economic data was released showing producer prices increased 3.3% over the last year, marking a three-year high. This happened at a time when the Trump administration is eager to convince Americans that its trade policies are working, which could help it distract from its mishandling of the Jeffrey Epstein files. Producer price increases eventually trickle down to consumer prices, the editorial noted.

'Should horrify everyone': DC police chief under fire for order to cooperate with Trump

The ACLU and a local branch of one of the nation's largest labor unions were among those who condemned Thursday's order by Washington, DC's police chief authorizing greater cooperation with federal forces sent by President Donald Trump to target and arrest undocumented immigrants in the sanctuary city.

Metropolitan Police Department Chief Pamela Smith issued an executive order directing MPD officers to assist federal forces including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in sharing information about people in situations including traffic stops. The directive does not apply to people already in MPD custody. The order also allows MPD to provide transportation for federal immigration agencies and people they've detained.

'Exiled' Republican warns US 'effectively recreated Jim Crow'

A conservative columnist warned Thursday that the United States has effectively rebuilt an odious institution from its past.

David Brooks, columnist for The New York Times, argued in a new column that the U.S. has effectively recreated the Jim Crow era. However, the division lines are class-based in the new institution compared to the race-based lines of yore. To make his point, Brooks cites data showing the academic gap between the affluent and the less wealthy is larger today than it was during the Jim Crow era.

'Infuriated' ex-senator lights up Trump over photo-op stunt on MSNBC: 'Such a joke!'

Former Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) tore into President Donald Trump's move to federalize law enforcement in Washington, D.C. as a stunt — and accused him of tearing down everything that actually helps law enforcement stop crime.

"Okay, so one, this idea that if it works in Washington, D.C., then let's see where else we can do it," said anchor Alicia Menendez. "This normalization of using military force in American cities. And to clear this argument ... we've been spending all of our military resources abroad, what we really need to be doing is spending them at home. It's absurd. And it's not what Americans voted for."

Trump privately rages at Epstein victims as 'clearly Democrats': insiders

President Donald Trump has said very little about disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein's sex trafficking victims, but the story is different inside the White House, according to a new report.

Rolling Stone spoke with two White House insiders "familiar with [Trump's] private remarks" about how he describes the victims when the cameras are not around. The report was published as the president tries to distract his base from his administration's refusal to release the Epstein case files, despite promising to release them on the campaign trail.
