Any question over whether Donald Trump was watching MS NOW’s "Morning Joe” on Wednesday morning was put to rest after he fired off a furious Truth Social post moments after the hosts read excerpts from a bombshell New York Times report on the Jeffrey Epstein files.
Following an interview with Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner, co-host Joe Scarborough broke the news that Trump had just lashed out at the show.
According to the president, “Joe Scarborough’s ever shrinking, low rated show, one of the most inaccurate detailers of truthful facts on television, is being crushed in the ratings. His serious case on Trump Derangement Syndrome, often referred to as TDS, has made him a laughing stock among those who know what is going on in the ‘Wonderful World of Television.’ His show is being cut because his ratings are TERRIBLE, and Mike and Willie, who wants to be his father but doesn’t have the talent, are falling further and further into the TDS Swamp! They all suffer from Low Ratings Disease!!! President DJT.”
That led to no small measure of sarcasm and ridicule aimed back at the president from Scarborough and co-hosts Mika Brzezinski, Willie Geist and Jonathan Lemire.
“Did Donald just write us? Okay, yeah. Donald thank you for for writing this,” Scarborough began before reading the post.
“Sometimes I go talk to you in the White House, and we disagree on things, but nothing deranged here, sir, unless you're deranged,” he addressed the president. "If there's any derangement, it would have to be on your side of the relationship, because I'm not deranged. Not about you. I just state the facts and maybe that makes you deranged.”
“Oh, what am I going to do? I don't think I'm the one who's being laughed at, sir,” he continued before quoting the president writing, “’His show is being cut because his ratings are terrible.’ Not exactly what I think we saw earlier.”
“But I think what we were talking about, you'll note, is the breaking news from the New York Times and that excerpt from Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan's new book about the Epstein files,” co-host Geist offered.
“Ohhhh, that actually sort of affirms the reporting that this is something you cannot mention around the president of the United States,” Scarborough joked. “We just read what Maggie and Jonathan wrote about Epstein. Is that what that was?”
“My sense of it is it's a one-two thing,” Lemire stated. “I think clearly Epstein is a sensitivity. I'll just note that actually, as we even started talking about what the president is writing about, he has posted, again, very defensive about the war in Iran, saying that Iran's military is a complete and total mess, doesn't even exist anymore, they've been completely defeated, the bully of the Middle East is dead, etc.”
“So I think it's the one-two punch of, you know, us noting the situation. Iran has become a stalemate at best, and how the president has struggled to get his way out of that war. I think we're seeing defensiveness there,” he added.
