WASHINGTON — The Trump administration made an emergency appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court on Monday, asking the justices to strike down a lower court’s order that immigration officials return a Maryland man erroneously deported to a notorious mega-prison in El Salvador.

U.S. Solicitor General D. John Sauer argued that, despite an error in deporting Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia of Beltsville, Maryland, the lower court does not have the jurisdiction to order the Trump administration to return someone who the administration argues is no longer in U.S. custody.

'No way to sugarcoat': Wisconsin GOP 'struggles to find a path' if Trump not on ballot

Republicans were disappointed when liberal Judge Susan Crawford defeated conservative Brad Schimel by 10 percent in a Wisconsin Supreme Court election last week.

Although the race was technically nonpartisan, Schimel was supported by President Donald Trump and his close ally, billionaire Elon Musk — who poured over $20 million into Schimel's campaign. But all that money from Musk didn't prevent Crawford from enjoying a double-digit victory in a key swing state that Trump won in 2016 and 2024 yet lost in 2020.

Speaking with the hosts, she explained, "I would just say the thing that's really alarming about what our government is doing is, think about this weekend. Over this weekend, I was talking to former colleagues of mine from Deutsche Bank saying, compare this weekend to where we were in 2008, right? That the famous 2008 weekend when traders were flooding back to trading desks to figure out what was their counterparty exposure to, to all other banks out there, how bad was it going to be?"
