'Watch what DOJ does': Ex-Trump official predicts FBI involvement if key Senate race flips

A former Trump administration official says a Democratic victory in Texas’ high-stakes Senate race could trigger an effort by President Donald Trump to overturn the results — potentially involving the FBI.

Miles Taylor, a former Department of Homeland Security chief of staff under Trump, outlined that scenario in an exclusive interview with Newsweek as Republican Ken Paxton faced Democratic state Rep. James Talarico.

“In particular, watch what DOJ does in Harris County on Wednesday morning,” Taylor said Tuesday. “There’s a not insignificant chance you see guys in FBI windbreakers carrying boxes out of buildings as part of a Trump effort to muck up the results.”

“If Talarico wins, it will only be by a point or two, and I'd expect Trump to contest a narrow loss there the same way he's preparing to contest close races everywhere else,” he added as Americans headed to the polls for the critical midterms.

Harris County Attorney Abbie Kamin told Newsweek her office was preparing to resist possible interference. She has assembled an election protection task force of more than 30 attorneys, according to Houston Public Media.

“I will not allow anyone, not even a president, to undermine the fundamental right to vote,” Kamin said.

The White House responded by attacking Taylor, who has become an outspoken Trump critic.

“Miles 'Anonymous' Taylor is a leaker with Trump derangement syndrome,” spokesperson Lauren Bis told Newsweek. “No one cares what this washed-up has-been has to say."
