A Senate floor rant by Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) about the airline industry, where he warned “the pilot flying your plane could have a deranged fetish,” was greeted with laughter and dismay on MS NOW Thursday morning.
The clip, shared by “Morning Joe” co-hosts Mika Brzezinski, Joe Scarborough and Willie Geist caused Brzezinski to gasp as Geist and Scarborough burst out laughing.
According to the Alabama Republican, “Many airline pilots, flight attendants, and air traffic controllers are part of the furry community."
He then added, “Lord help us. It's terrifying when you think about this. When you walk onto a commercial flight, it's possible that the pilot flying your plane could have a deranged fetish of dressing up like an animal. You can't make this up."
That led Scarborough to joke, “Lord help us indeed,” as Geist laughed and then stated, “That wasn’t real.”
"This is why I’m scared of AI,” Scarborough replied, although the video is real. “This is why I'm scared of AI. Because you're going to get public figures made to look like total idiots because somebody obviously ginned that up.”
Scarborough continued, “That had to be AI-generated, because even Tommy Tuberville is not that stupid. I mean, I would hope he’s not that stupid.”
“That was on the sacred floor of the United States Senate. That was his ‘Mr. Smith goes to Washington' moment. I'm going to make my big speech and have my big moment,” Geist added.
