Every week seems to bring a new target for Trump’s wrath. He simply can’t let anything go. But when his grievances against his enemies are too severe simply to attack them in a series of hateful tweets, you can count on Trump to take it to the next level: the courtroom.

They’re a cunning lot, these elected Republican officials. In their latest plot to revoke the fundamental benefits that have saved millions of seniors from falling into poverty, Republicans are now looking for ways to bribe Americans into forgoing their government-guaranteed retirement security.

Everyone was bracing for pandemonium in Philadelphia on Sunday night after the Eagles won their first ever Super Bowl. The fans are notoriously passionate, after all, and some preventative measures were taken to limit the chaos (police officers even covered lamp posts with Crisco to fan-proof the Philly faithful). But just because the riots, which resulted in three arrests, several injuries, and episodes of vandalism and looting, were expected, nothing excuses the clear racial bias in the response of city officials.

When I set out to research the German words that capture what it feels like to be an American living during the era of the Trump administration, I didn’t expect there to be so damn many.

At this point you’ve got to be pretty naive to think there’s a chance that Donald Trump can redeem himself as president. Most progressives have lowered the bar of expectation for him to such a historic low that liberal pundits like Fareed Zakaria consider Trump's bombing of Syrian military bases, which resulted in 16 civilian deaths, a presidential high point.
