CNN host fires back at MAGA candidate melting down over residency: ‘I wasn't fed this'

CNN host Boris Sanchez repeatedly clashed with Republican Iowa gubernatorial candidate Zach Lahn on Thursday as a tense interview over his residency turned into a heated back-and-forth.

The confrontation began almost immediately when Sanchez pressed Lahn about reports that he spends more time outside Iowa than in the state he hopes to govern, prompting the Trump-backed MAGA candidate to accuse CNN of amplifying attacks from his Democratic opponent.

“First off, it’s a complete lie,” Lahn fired back. “What you’re reporting on is actually $15 million in attack ads spent by a Democratic candidate to make you report on this, just like you are.”

“It’s disappointing that that’s happening,” he added, accusing supporters of Democrat Rob Sand of tracking his private plane while his children were aboard.

Sanchez explained that Iowa voters had raised questions about Lahn’s residency, but the Republican continued blaming his opponent’s advertising.

“I just want to be clear. I have had no contact with your opponent's campaign. I wasn’t fed this information,” Sanchez said Thursday. “I'm going off of what voters told CNN.”

Sanchez then asked whether Lahn would release his flight logs — prompting another furious response.

“The flight logs are all public. They've already been publicized,” Lahn said, before arguing that the scrutiny was exposing his children to unwanted attention.

“Even this questioning right here is putting more scrutiny to my minor children,” Lahn added as he and the CNN host talked over each other.

“I’m not asking about your family, sir. I’m not asking about your family at all,” Sanchez interrupted.

“This is more about the accusation from your opponent that you're somehow less invested in Iowa than he is,” Sanchez said.

Lahn then pivoted to attacking Sand’s record as state auditor.

“He’s a part-time auditor. He would be a part-time governor,” Lahn concluded.
