Tuesday night on The Daily Show, Americans for Tax Reform president Grover Norquist said he came up with his influential anti-tax pledge when he was in the seventh grade.

"My team is winning," he told the Daily Show's Samantha Bee.

"Your team is winning?" she responded. "It's like you came up with this whole idea when you were twelve."

"It was something I came up with when I was twelve," Norquist admitted.

Nearly every Republican in Congress has signed Norquist's Taxpayer Protection Pledge, vowing to oppose any and all tax increases. Only 14 Republican members of 112th Congress have refused to sign the pledge.

"Yes, the entire federal government is paralyzed because of a document written by a twelve-year-old in 1968," Bee said.
