The audience at Thursday's Republican presidential debate lashed out at the "majority of Americans" who support universal background checks for firearm purchases.
Fox Business host Trish Regan reminded the candidates that President Barack Obama had recently taken executive actions to improve gun safety.
"None of you on this stage agree with this," Regan acknowledged. "But recent polls show the majority of Americans are in favor of universal background checks."
The Fox Business host was forced to pause as the crowd loudly booed the poll results.
"Not in this room," candidate Rick Santorum quipped.
"It's the poll's data," Regan explained, but the crowd continued to boo.
"So we all believe the poll data all the time, don't we?" GOP hopeful Carly Fiorina snarked to the audience's delight. "It is yet another lawless executive order."
