Fox News host Chris Wallace appeared to catch GOP candidate Donald Trump's campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, stretching the truth during a sparring interview on Sunday.

Wallace was questioning Lewandowski about Trump's decision to criticize New Mexico's Republican governor, Susana Martinez, who happens to be the nation's only Latina governor.

"Corey, why on Earth would the now-Republican nominee... call out the popular governor of a swing state like New Mexico who just happens to be the head of the Republican Governors Association," Wallace asked.

Lewandowski defended Trump with his stump speech, saying Trump will bring jobs back to the United States and put Americans first.

The attack on Martinez was called "destructive" by Trump supporter Newt Gingrich, Wallace pointed out.

That's when Lewandowski said Trump is "winning with Latinos" and "doing very well with women."

Wallace corrected the record.

"He's not winning with women, and he's not winning with Hispanics," Wallace said. "His numbers are hugely underwater with both."
