On Monday evening in the town of Lutz, Florida, an angry motorist got caught on video deliberately slamming his vehicle into a motorcycle, injuring the man and woman riding it before fleeing the scene.
PalmBeachPost.com reported Tuesday that 31-year-old Robert Paul Vance was driving his vehicle recklessly and aggressively when he got into an altercation with a group of cyclists.
"The guy driving the car was driving recklessly, like crazy out of control," said witness Abe Garcia to TV station WFTS. "I saw him almost run one of the bikers over, like off the side of the road. So then the bikers caught up to him at a red light and words started exchanging, and then the guy went complete psychopath."
Garcia captured the attack on his cell phone and posted the video to Facebook.
CBS affiliate WTSP reported that Vance was arrested and charged with hit-and-run and aggravated battery.
"I thought the guy was trying to kill us, obviously," said Joe Calderazzo -- the male motorcyclist hurt in the video -- to WTSP. "You know you don't know what's going through your mind. Is he going to put the car in reverse? Is he going to turn around? Is he going to stop and pull out a gun? You don't know what's going on."
WTSP said that Vance has had previous run-ins with the law for traffic violations, drug offenses and violence. He has admitted to investigators that he struck the cyclists and left the scene on Monday.
Calderazzo is a U.S. Navy veteran who was driving home from a Memorial Day ride to honor fallen veterans when the incident took place.
