
Donald Trump's campaign has released an official statement on the fatal shootings of police officers in Dallas, and it's surprisingly restrained and dignified.
Instead of his usual bombast, Trump only employs Nixonian tropes about the need to "restore law and order," while also saying "we must restore the confidence of our people to be safe and secure in their homes and on the street."
Trump also said that America has become "too divided," which is ironic for a candidate who has run the most divisive campaign in American history. Trump also said that now is the time "for strong leadership, love and compassion."
At any rate, it looks like someone has yanked away Trump's phone from him this morning and has put out a reasonable statement in response to last night's horrific events. Check out the whole statement embedded in the tweet below.
