CNN host Jake Tapper went onto Chelsea Handler's Netflix talk show this week, where he talked about the challenges that President-elect Donald Trump will have in unifying the country.
In particular, Tapper said that there's a danger that the "bubble" that surrounds Trump and his team in the Trump Tower may prevent them from understanding just how dark the mood is right now for large portions of America.
"I don’t know that they really, inside the Trump Tower bubble, I don’t know that they really understand how scared a lot of Americans are," said Tapper.
Handler then asked Tapper how Trump's team could really ignore all the mass demonstrations that are being conducted against him throughout the country. Surely, they must be briefing him about this, right?
Tapper's answer was not comforting.
"One of the things I'm seeing, and I don't know if you're seeing this, but if you look at social media or media in general, I see a lot of people who are scared, and a lot of people who are resentful and focused on their own hurt feelings," he said. "Both Trump supporters and Trump opponents... it almost seems as though people are not even willing to acknowledge the hurt feelings of the people on the other side."
Handler then cracked that Trump probably thinks people out in the streets are actually celebrating his win since "he turns everything into a victory."
