An Instagram post on Saturday claimed to show singer and producer CeeLo Green being injured by an exploding cell phone.
The New York Daily News said that the video was posted to Instagram on Saturday by a user named @IamPhillyChase.
"Exclusive!! #Ceelogreen Is Injured When Cell Phone Explodes In His Face!!!! Security Camera Footage from a recording studio where Ceelo green was working. His phone starts smoking then you see the phone explode and Ceelo collapses to the floor! Hope he's ok! #studio #cellphone #samsung #prayforceelo," said the video's caption.
There has been no word from Green or his management about whether the video is real. The video has no date or time stamp, but appears to show Green -- or someone who looks like him -- in a recording studio with other musicians.
He answers his cell phone and talks for a moment before it explodes and knocks him to the ground.
Green is a former member of rap group Goodie Mob but rocketed to global stardom as lead singer of the group Gnarls Barkley -- a collaboration between Green and producer Brian Burton, aka Danger Mouse.
His 2010 album featured the hit single "F*ck You," which aired in more family friendly outlets as "Forget You."
Green has also served as a judge on musical reality TV show The Voice.
Some social media users say the video is phony, others call it a publicity stunt. Meanwhile, fans and supporters have been posting well wishes online.
