Last week, a video showing a Salt Lake City police officer violently arresting a nurse for refusing to take a patient's blood went viral and public outcry ensued.
Now, according to SLC's Fox 13 News, Jeff Payne, the offending detective, has been fired from his part-time job as a paramedic.
"Gold Cross Ambulance in Salt Lake City, Utah has terminated Jeff Payne as a part-time Paramedic effective immediately," the company's statement on Tuesday reads. "Although Jeff was not working for Gold Cross Ambulance at the time of the incident, we take his inappropriate remarks regarding patient transports seriously."
