GOP agenda stalls in lame duck session because Republicans would rather 'watch Wheel of Fortune' than pass legislation

Republicans are frustrated about missing their "final chance" to enact the GOP agenda by funding President Donald Trump's border wall project and the long-promised repeal of Obamacare, Politico reports.

The story talks about Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) having "implored his Republican colleagues... to use the GOP’s last days of unified control in Washington to ram through a boatload of conservative priorities."

Cruz's colleagues were not interested in his opinions, the report says, seeing them as "one more request in a sea of them in this lame-duck session."

Among Republicans, some are frustrated that others don't want to work the long hours that would be necessary to get legislation through, while others, including the many who lost seats as Democrats took over the House of Representatives, want to get home to their families for the holidays.

"Everybody wants to quit at 4 o’clock so they can go home to watch ‘Wheel of Fortune.’ And nobody wants to work on the weekends," said Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA).
