The media has had a difficult day talking about women taking the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives.
While tweeting a New York Times story on the election of Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), the paper's politics account led with a description of what she was wearing.
"Nancy Pelosi, wearing a hot pink dress, ascended to the marble dais in the center of the House chamber to accept the wooden gavel," the Times Politics tweeted.

The moment came after CNN discussed Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wearing white so she would stand out in photos. In fact, she wore white because it is the color of the suffragette movement. Former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton made the same choice when accepting her party's nomination.
The Times deleted the tweet once they started being ripped to shreds by Twitter users. They admitted it was "poorly framed."
