Anti-choice Democrats are running in several conservative areas around the nation with the full support of the Democratic establishment.
However, in 1992, Bob Casey, Sr. was roughed up by Bill Clinton's NOW thugs because he wouldn't support abortion-on-demand for drunk 12-year-olds, lest we forget.
I'm not particularly excited by the number of anti-choice Dems running in this year's elections, but really, the whole "Democrats are in thrall to the abortion lobby" meme has always been its own special kind of bullshit. In 1992, Casey was a sitting governor in a major state, accompanied by such prominent pro-life stalwarts as Senators John Breaux and Harry Reid. Every election year, we get stories of the remarkable anti-choice Democrats who serve as a wake up call to a party seen as "too extreme" for the majority of Americans regarding the issue which...the majority of Americans agree with them on.
Incidentally, how many pro-choice Republican challengers are there this year?
