The problem with people at heavily screened rallies who say crazy, hateful things prompted by Sarah Palin saying hateful, crazy things isn't anything that's actually said - it's the press reporting on it.
This may be one of the weirdest things I've ever heard someone comment about this election:
By the way, should we assume that Palin didn't realize that McCain had declined to use Jeremiah Wright against Obama? Maybe she did know, and she intended to imply that McCain has not run a sufficiently vigorous campaign and to set herself apart as someone who could have fought to a victory but came in too late and weighed down by an inadequate running mate.
Her political interests are different from him, and I've been getting the impression that she is running with her eyes on 2012.
So, six weeks after having been selected as a gimmick pick for a failing candidate, Palin has not only decided that she's going to run her own campaign separate from the man who would be president, but that she's better suited for the job and the decisions than he is. There's a word for that sort of attitude, but I just can't think of it...
