You'd think for a press release in Spanish highlighting the Republican Party's commitment to Hispanic heritage they'd at least hire a competent Spanish translator.
Evidently not. On Tuesday, the liberal blog ThinkProgress noted that the press release the party sent out commemorating Hispanic Heritage month was "riddled with errors."
"Though the press release emphasizes the Republican Party’s 'commitment to the Hispanic community,' apparently that commitment does not include hiring a qualified Spanish translator," the site's Andrea Nill remarked. "The Spanish translation of [Republican National Committee Chairman Michael] Steele’s statement is riddled with embarrassing typos and errors. Even Yahoo’s automatic online translator, Babel Fish, produces better results. A quick revision highlights the multitude of glaring errors."
That revision appears below.
